How do I become a licensed cosmetologist in Florida?

To become a hair stylist: complete our 9-month cosmetology program which will prepare you to take the Florida state exam.To become a Licensed Esthetician: complete our 2.5-month Esthetics program. All testing will take place at Hyphen. You do not need to sit for an external exam.To become a Licensed Nail Technician: complete our 2-month Nail Technology program. Can I work while attending school?

Yes. Hyphen’s hybrid schedule allows you to attend classes 2 days per week and complete lectures online. Most students continue working their full- or part-time jobs while attending school.

Do you offer financial aid?

You only need to put a $1,200-$2,600 deposit to cover the kit and to start class. We offer interest-free financing during your time at school.

When does the next class start?

All of our programs operate on a revolving "wheel" so the average wait time is usually 2 months for our next entry point. Please contact our admissions office to get the upcoming schedule for classes.

How do I become a licensed HVAC Contractor or Plumbing Contractor in Florida?

To become a Licensed Plumber: After graduating from Hyphen, you must complete 8,000 hours of work under a licensed plumber (of which 2,000 hours must be as a foreman). You will then sit for the Florida state exam which is broken into two parts: the Plumbing General Trade Knowledge Exam and the Business & Financial Management Exam.
To become a Licensed HVAC Technician: After graduating from Hyphen, you must complete 8,000 hours of work under a under a Certified Air Conditioning Contractor. You will then sit for the Florida state exam which is broken into two parts: the HVAC Trade Knowledge Exam and the Business & Financial Management Exam.
After graduating with Hyphen's Facilities Management Diploma, you can complete the required hours for both HVAC and Plumbing concurrently. You will then sit for both sets of the Florida state exam in order to get both licenses.

How is Hyphen different from other trade schools in Orlando?
